The company i work for and have for over 20 years are threatening to put us on a 4 day week making us sign a contract to the effect althou nobody has signed as yet They have said if we fail to or refuse to sign our employment will be terminated (legal advice is been sought)
Im concerned that if the company does need to seek further savings etc and redundancy notices are issued we will only be paid for a "4 day week" rather than a full five day one is this correct even thou ive worked a five day for the last 24 years plus

I may be wrong about this, so don't just take my word for it because I'm not an expert, but I think if you sign a new contract then it's a contractual change and not a temporary variation, so redundancy would be based on four days and not five. I am almost sure (but not certain) that only a temporary variation allows you to claim your original contracted hours as the basis for redundancy.0

Yes, if it was a permanent change, then yes, redundancy would be paid on a four day week, unless you negotiated a 5 day redundancy package before you sign any new contractmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

ITs times like this you need a united front and all stick togehter and insist on consultation and proper notice.
If enough people they might need to consult such a change on group basis.
You have identified the main feer but the alternative may be redundancies now.
Consultation is to work through the options.
Certainly need legal advice on 20% cut being acceptable.
coprimise might be temporary cut and review, thing is if they can't do that then they have no confidence the business will recover so might be better to go now.0
