Languedoc - things to do

We are off to Canet Plage in Languedoc soon. We have been before but we are looking for some new (money saving) idea's for this year.
We will be spending time on the beach, visiting Eus (best pizza ever!), going to the mountains (any suggestions?), popping over to Spain.
We do need some other idea's though. I priced up Le petit train last night and for a short trip it was going to be £27 each way, so we will be giving that a miss! So where is worth going that won't cost a fortune? We don't mind a couple of days where we pay a bit more, especially if it is a whole day out (we have done things where you are in and out in an hour.
Thanks :-)

Day trip to Andorra if you've never been - get your Duty free (watch the allowance).
Various Cathar Castles - see Google.
La Cite de Carcassonne - park in town and walk over bridge - much cheaper.
Get your togs off at Leucate Plage, (Southern end over the river)0 -
Carcassonne, narbonne, beziers. I know that they're slightly further afield, but worth visiting.
We visited Prats de Mollo up in the mountains. From what I remember it's a pretty place.0 -

I'd say Narbonne or Beziers no need to do both. Narbonne would be closer and much easier to drive around especially in peak season.0 -
You won't normally need to pay to park anywhere apart from city centers and there are free parks in Narbonne if you find them.
Don't forget on meters lunchtimes usually don't count so pay for 2 hours and get 4 in many cases and some days might be free so check before you pay.
Also look out for the 1 Euro bus fares in the area.0 -
Just been looking up andorra, it looks great.
Good to know about the parking, I didn't know about the free lunch parking.0 -

The duty free shopping's on the way in, the 'Town' is further on from the French side. AVOID the toll tunnel in between, just take the road, better views anyway. Weekdays are quieter than weekends.
Duty free limits do still apply.
Not EU (bit complicated) so double check Insurance and breakdown cover etc.
Also Google Llivia, Spain but in France sort of.0
