My granddaughter has just broken her laptop screen and is heartbroken is it possible to get this replaced or will we have to buy a new laptop?

Laptop screens are easy to replace but you'll need to know the size/model number etc. If you post the laptop make and model number here we might be able to point you in the right direction and provided you step-by-step instructions.
Is it just a case of the screen cracked or are any plastics or hinges broken too?0 -
Hi there thanks for the quick reply its a HP G62 (just rang her mother and this is what she tells me) the granddaughter is only 10yrs and does her homework on this so is going to be lost without it.
No plastic broken just the screen.0 -
No probs. I'll see what I can dig up. Does she have the option of plugging in an external monitor until it can be fixed?
Found that quicker than I expected http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IePdjRTMQzs
Don't worry about the prying tools, an old credit card or similar will do the trick. The guy in the video suggests a knife but ideally don't use metal, you want something that can pry but at the same time if a little pressure is needed you want the tool to mark and not the screen or plastics. I'll go see if I can find the exact screen model and post back here.0 -
I will loan her one from here until it can be sorted, I just didnt know if it was possible or if meant buying a new one, but thanks again.0

Just noticed, the model number of the screen is listed at the end of the clip.0
