Charity for donation???

Ooh I'd second that johnmc. if you are able to volunteer that is worth a lot more than you could give as a donation. But of course that isn't always possible. I'm a Tawny Owl for a Brownie Pack in London and I love it!
Apart from the Guiding Association I would also recommend NCH (National Children's Homes) as another a possible recipient of your kind donation.0 -
I work for a charity called Children in Crisis. Children in Crisis provides education for children who have never been to school. In places where war, poverty or neglect have left children without the opportunity to get an education, they have very little chance to escape the poverty that blights the lives of so many of their compatriots. Education gives children a route out of poverty, and gives them the potential to have better lives than their parents. Take a look at www.childrenincrisis.org.uk and see for yourself - give us a ring if you'd like to set up a donation.
I can imagine you're all thinking 'but you work there, you're obviously going to recommend it!' but actually, you wouldn't believe the number of people in the charity sector who wouldn't recommend the charity they work for (if you've got a stationery cupboard full of uniball pens and free rein on the heating, it doesn't make sense to suggest people give to your organisation). However, Children in Crisis is a tight ship, there is very little wastage, and all our admin costs are justifiable and transparent. We've even got a good write up on the Intelligent Giving site too!
Good luck finding something that suits you.0 -
May I suggest donating to this organisation, combining humanitarian and environmental projects in the developing world.

I am on the management committee of my local Women's Aid and as with alot of charities we are always struggling for cash to provide a much needed service..... here is the web address for you to have a read.... If there is a centre close to yourself you can take the money in yourself and say what you want the money spending on, yes you can do that we have lots of people that say specifically what it should be spent on

I have another suggestion for a great kids charity.
It's called Campus Children's Holidays (https://www.campusholidays.org.uk) and they provide holidays for disadvantaged children who are refered by Social Services in Liverpool for all sorts of different reasons but who all need a break away from home.
I thought it might appeal because you wanted a charity with low administration costs and as this is a small charity which is entirely run by volunteers they have very low admin costs indeed. Yet they still manage to provide over 150 holidays every year and I know that any donations would be hugely appreciated!0 -

I'd try not to donate to this organisation if at all possible.
Women's Aid do some good work, but they are a fundamentally sexist and feminist organisation. They constantly try to belittle male victims of violence whilst at the same time claiming to be "The National domestic violence charity". And don't take my word for it - even the founder of Women's Aid agrees that they do a huge amount of harm.
There was an excellent discussion regarding Women's Aid on the forums a while back but it seems to have been deleted now.0 -
What about https://www.ssafa.org.uk who support serving and ex service men, women and their families. They do fabulous work.0
