Why Pay Travel for 2 adults

Im trying to book travel insurance for my 12 yr old and me to go abroad but all the insurance policies I have checked insist on me paying for two adults and my child!!!!

Any suggestions?

Who have you checked? I've never heard of any insurance company doing that (unless you are trying to buy a specific family package I guess).

what kind of policy are you trying to buy? I regularly travel with my 11 year old and only pay for the 2 of us on travel insurance.
  • Whom do you recommend? I've tried the likes of Oinc and compare sites, it maybe because I'm flying from Belfast .....but no luck

The first one I tried was the Post Office travel insurance, can you use that from belfast? They do one adult and one child, you just choose 'family' then the appropriate No. of adults and children

I went to the Oinc website and within 1 minute I had a quote for 1 adult and 1 child for a European holiday... It even specifies the category as "single parent family"!

I've used both OINC and Virgin for travel insurance as a single parent. I'm pretty sure both policies covered the kids for no extra premium.

I think I searched through a comparison site first.
