After watching a rather intriguing episode of Grand Designs last week i've become fixated with converting an old shipping crate into accomadation. I'd love to read other peoples thoughts on this.
Is it worth? and where the on earth would you put it?

well you would need somewhere to put it, done you own any land with permission? years ago i worked for a shipping firm repairing containers. they are strong, sturdy things but the steel ones rust, not surprising when they are lashed with salt water on a ship! the alloy one are good.0

I know someone who has turned one into a shed, and it's only just adequate for that in my opinion. It has no windows, and leaks a lot.
It looks like this one
Also it's an inverse-TARDIS it looks a lot bigger on the outside than it seems on the inside. It would make a pretty poor house. More like a cave.0 -
Good insulation should fix that after all it works both ways, You can use insulation to keep an area cooler that the surrounding area (eg using air conditioning) or warmer (useing a heater)
I wpould expect you would need a a few to make the constructiona decent size, but sounds like a nice project. If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

I think you would be insane, I remember watching something about this and there was a company that specialised in doing this and at the time I thought it was a crazy idea.
