changing to fixed head shower - big job?

I am thinking of changing the shower head in one of my bathrooms to a large fixed head and am wondering if this is a large job before I get some quotes.
Can the shower that is already in place be used or does it need a new one? Does it need to be a particular type of shower? I think it is an electric shower that is currently in place as it has a switch outside shower room.
It is a for a spare room that doesn't get used unless there are guests and it looks a bit scubby in comparison to the other rooms so I am looking for a focal point for the room.

If it's an electric shower then they can be used only with electric shower heads. There's no way an electric shower will supply a 'waterfall' type shower.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

Does it need to be a power shower? It is the only shower in the house that isn't a power shower. Oh well, worth a thought. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0
