Help with ISA's + saving.

Hey all, I'm a new member to this site, and am trying to figure out what to do with my savings/cash savings.
I'm a university student, yet hold a part time job when i'm at uni, which pretty much becomes full time in holidays (like now). I work as a waitress, and we get tips at the end of each month in cash, these I have managed to save up for nearly a year, and I think the total is close to £1.5k. I'm looking to put this into an ISA or savings account where I won't get taxed on it.
I already have an Student Account, Flexi-Saver and Online Saving Account with HSBC and then a Student Account ( which is going to become another Savings Account when I have time to go in and change it back) with LLoydsTSB. Also have an NS&I account, which I'm planning on moving to LLoyds. So opening an ISA with one of these two banks would be best for me.
Anyone got reviews on ISA's and can help me with what to do?
Also thought this post could be used to help motivate each other to save
as I'm currently saving whilst at Uni, so if there are any of you out there who have done, or are doing the same it'll be awesome to hear your tips

maybe start by writing down
how much you have in each a/c and the interest rate
if you don't earn more than 8105 pa then make sure all your savings a/cs are paid gross (fill out a R85 for each a/c)0
