Suggestion for Stansted parking?

Hi everyone - we are travelling to Stansted from Somerset for a 10am flight - will probably leave about 4-5am allowing for check in and my paranoia! The problem is, we have a one and a three year old, and i am unsure what to do about parking on a tight budget for two week holiday. We could do Pink Elephant (by the way, have never been to Stansted before, so don't know what any of these options are like) but worried about kids getting fed up with transferring from car park etc - have been quoted £52.50. Or we could go night before and stay in a hotel with parking- the cheapest i can find is Bushel & Sack, but i am wary of taking the kids there after reading reviews. Then there is the 'local parking' and taking bus/train option. Basically, does anyone have any views on these options? Or any new ideas. Many thanks

Try https://www.baa.com/parking - they seem to be advertising some fairly low-priced parking deals for periods of a couple of weeks. I think I remember seeing in the region of £3 a day advertised.

I think pink elephant is quite a way out - if there's not much difference in price look at eparking there - its about 5 minutes on the courtesy bus - I book through baa.com/parking.

It may also be worth checking price with holidayextras.

Why not stay in a B&B the night before and leave the car there during the holiday ? We are staying here, https://www.whitehousestansted.co.uk , before our early morning flight and leaving our car during our week holiday which works out cheaper than most of the car parking at Stansted, even including the short taxi ride

There was a link on here a while back for a local man who charged £5 a day for short stays and a set amount for longer. Park in his garden to park and he picked up and dropped off.
Hope someone has it for you........ I've lost it!

Is it not cheaper to pay someone to run you there and back? Dont know where you live obviously but we have a local mini bus service that means any holiday longer than a week makes him better value. My father in law is even better value still...... :o)

thanks, just saved a quid compared to pink elephant for an overnighter with baa
  • Try http://stanstead.com/stanstead-airport/car-parking/ managed to find 3 days parking for £21 even last minute when we went to Copenhagen. Guess week long prices would be less. I could also suggest one way car hire

Here I am, also digging out the old post/thread. For those of you who are looking for cheap airport parking I found this -

I booked for 36 days & it only cost me £92.50 Chauffeur Meet and Greet Service.

    https://www.skyparksecure.com:443/cheap_airport_parking/booking.php

Also get 10% off - at the bottom of the left hand side, there is a promotion box :- enter :- SKYSHC1

    & click quote me.

I think the above quote also applies to other airport.

I dont know were in Somerset you are travelling from (I took average from country cricket ground) or what day of the week your flight is (can make a hugh difference to tariff on motorways), or what month. Even without these things a 4-5am start may be late. Flight 10am, Check in 8am, Arrive at carpark 7:30, 3.5 to 4 hr drive (good day, quite run) probably longer especially if kids need extra loo stops means a 3:30-4am start at the latest. Find somewere cheap to stay the night before and drive up at yuor leasure with no worries about being late/missing flights etc. This will be a much more relaxing start to your holiday.
