Balance transfer from spouse

in Credit cards
My wife has around £6,000 on a Nationwide 0% credit card. She is just starting a new job after a career break so doesn't think she will be eligible for a balance transfer. Can I transfer her balance to a new 0% credit card, applied for by me, in my name and on my credit history? I have a regular income.

Yes you can. Generally easier to do online than on the phone. But if they do ask if the other card is in your name, tell the truth.
And make sure your wife doesn't run off with the milkman, as the debt will now be in your name.0 -
Also make sure they card that you apply for isn't a nationwide card as well.0

Yes it is possible.
I have done this in the past with Barclaycard and I would recommend them because:
1. They generally give decent credit limits in my experience
2. Their balance transfer offers are hard to beat (plus 1/2 price transfer fees at the moment i believe)
3. You can process the B/T online and it doesnt ask who the other card holder is.
As mentioned above, you will become legally responsible for the debt rather than your wife. But if like me you have joint finances anyway then I dont expect this is an issue0
