Not unusual at all. I did it last year for my daughter who had a joint party. I did the party bags and the other mum did the food. we used cheap plastic tubs and covered them with stickers and put each name on. The child then go to take these home also.

As a mother who children frequent partys all the time - whatever they are given is the party hosts choice and should be appreciated!

    I've been Money Tipped!
if my kids were at a party that did this i wouldnt have no complaints. i think its a great idea and i think you would cut down on waste as in my experience, the kids are usually too hyped up to eat much of the food on a table and the parents end up throwing loads away.

i would imagine any food left in the box would be taken home by the kids and eaten later.

Sounds great except for the cup drink, Fruit shoots (or supermarket versions) are less mess, but juice cartons are healthier, most of those cup drinks are full of horrid colourings and additives (and sugar)!
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

I did this a few times when my children were younger, you end up buying much less food than if you put it out on separate plates and each child gets the right portion amount.

I did this last month for my sons party, it worked really well, no waste and easier to transport. I did a couple of extras for siblings that turned up and got some drinks and cheap nibbles to entertain the adults.
The only thing I would say is that the fromage frais tubes were really hard to open (mine were Tesco own brand) and they ended up covering a couple of adults!

We've been to a few parties recently where the host has done exactly this and I think its a great idea, I'll be doing the same in the next round of parties for my herberts! I really really really cant stand food being wasted so I think its a fab idea.

(But McD happy meals for a party?? Eek, I really hope that doesnt catch on round here!)
