Electoral roll + invested house

This is not of a financial nature, however it seems the most appropriate thread.
Whist it is accepted anyone is required to enter their name on the electoral roll, rarely has anyone been prosecuted for not doing so. One assumes there is no variation for military personnel.
Maybe you would have an opinion on this scenario.
If a married couple are in military quarters and have invested in a property as a long term investment, due to length of service of one of them, one of them has their name down on the electoral roll as per their military house, and the other has their name down on their invested house. (The invested house is lived in by a family member for the duration of the period of service still to serve and will move out when required.) The family member living in the invested house has a proxy vote for the person named.
We do not believe there is anything wrong with this scenario, however, because ignorance is said to be no defence in law, we wondered, just in case.
If you feel there is anything we are doing incorrectly, then please advise. Thanks.

No it is fine, the only problem could be with getting finance.0

Applications for a Joint Loan may fail due to your partner being registered/living at another address.
Probably the only downfall. I would post up on the Loan/Finance section of the form to ask for more specific information.

Thanks to you both. No intention of applying for a loan, they and we, simply wondered if they were doing anything deemed as inappropriate. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

As I understand things, you should register on the electoral roll where you actually live, including the family member. Ownership of the houses is irrelevent.
You can confirm this by reading the registration form. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0
