Replacing integrated dishwasher and door at same time

My integrated dishwasher is about 8 years old and is not working. It may be that the fault is something relatively simple but I don't think it's cost effective to pay for a repair when it may come to light that it will not be worth repairing. I am therefore thinking of buying a replacement. However, I also want to replace the cupboard door at the same time. It seems pointless to pay for the dishwasher to be fitted with the existing door and then paying a joiner to fit a new door. Plus it's not as straightforward for a joiner as just replacing a cupboard door.

Assuming that fitting the dishwasher is a plumbing job and replacing the door is a joinery job, is someone who fits dishwashers likely to be OK with replacing the door also? I know they would charge extra but that's OK within reason and should work out cheaper and easier than paying for the dishwasher to be fitted to the old door and then paying for a new door to be fitted to the dishwasher.

Yes, I thought that, but will someone who fits kitchens be interested in such a small job?

The new integrated dishwasher will come with a template for a new door. It looks way more complicated than it actually is and is a hell of a lot easier than fitting any cupboard door.
  • Some will and some wont. I dont mind doing work like this if its local. If its not local I still dont mind doing it but always say to the customer to try to find someone local first and if no luck call me back as obviously I have to charge more the further it is for a small job like a DW change.

  • Ive done both hundreds of times and IMO it is no way easier fitting a integrated DW that it is fitting a cabinet door

The top handle of the cupboard door on the dishwasher had worked loose a while ago. I had a joiner doing some other work for me and he sorted it out but I think he was a bit nervous of doing it! I assume he hadn't dealt with one previously. I had a similar problem with the integrated fridge or freezer door (possibly both, I can't remember) and got the guy who came to repair my dishwasher when it was broke to fix them, for a small extra charge. He seemed fine with that and I know he didn't repair fridges or freezers because he recommended someone else when I had a problem with my freezer.

I don't know if changing the door or handles on a fridge or freezer is any easier than changing them on a dishwasher though. I do know that if I was getting the kitchen completely refitted I would seriously consider NOT having integrated appliances again. They look great but they're more expensive and more of a problem if they need repairing.
