Commuting by public transport

I currently commute into London. 10 min walk to the station, 1hr 20min train journey, 20 minute walk to the office. I get up at 06:00, leave the house at 06:15 and I'm home at 20:15. I work compressed hours so do that 4 times a week with Thursday off.
Been doing that for just over a year now. The only thing that bugs me is the other commuters. And it's not nice walking in the rain.0 -
When I lived in London my commute was about 45 minutes by tube accross town which wasnt so bad..
Now im only 20 minutes from where I work which is fantasticone of the famous 50 -
I used to have a 90min commute - 1 mile to the station by bike or foot, 1 hour on a train or two, and 10 mins walk at the other end.
As long as I had a seat and it wasn't too crammed in, it was OK.
Did it by driving one week when a main station was out of commission. It nearly killed me - not used to that amount of driving at each end of the day, and was too tired by the end of the week.0 -
DiL has 2 hour commute, but the job is properly remunerated so worth the time and she gets a lot of work done whilst travelling.
For simply a normal reasonably paid job i wouldn't travel more than an hour.0
