online banking problems - are there any rules/guidelines

im having real problems with the online banking facility of my tesco credit card. they are extremely slow to update transactions, which is making it very hard to manage the account.

are there any rules or guidelines as to how soon after a transaction (in working days) it should be updated? i understand there can be delays in such things being debited to the account?

    Do they send you paper statements each month? If so, the online service is an added bonus so they can update it as fast/slow as they like and they have no obligations to do it in any particular timescale.

    You may also consider the fact that it may not be tesco that is causing the problem, they may only show transactions that have 'posted' to your account - which is not the same as when the transaction takes place, at this point it is only a hanging authorisation. So if the merchant is slow to bank the takings it may take a while to show on your account.
