Sound Proofing Problems

This is the first time I have written on a forum, but after spending a fortune on some sound proofing that was a complete waste of (a lot of) money I wanted to avoid anyone else making this costly mistake.

After moving a new house we were very disapointed to learn that the walls were paper thin and all conversations, television noice music and thier lovely piano could be heard through the wall.

We were very keen to try and reduce this as anyone who has lived with persistant neighbourly noice will know it does have a negative effect on your everyday family life. As we were getting some other building work done we thought it would be a good opportunity to try and reduce the noice so we looked at some options. We didnt really want to lose much space in the room and a lot of options took up a lot of space so instead opted for some NSSW2+ boards from Noise Stop Systems (www . noisestopsystems . co . uk )

I had a conversation with them and whilst they said they probably wouldnt have much of an impact on the piano as the noice travels differently they would certainly reduce other noice such as television and voices.. So we took the plunge and spend almost £600 on the boards + the money for the builders to install them.

2 months later we have emerged from the otherside of the building work and I can honestly say the noise, if possible is worse than before. The boards have made no difference at all. I have contacted the company to say how disappinted I am with the boards and suprisingly have recevied no response. It's suprising as when I was purchsing the boards they couldnt have been more helpful?! After looking further at the site I also see that they have no reviews which makes me think that I am not the only one who has experienced such poor sound reduction after using thier services.

Lesson learnt : If you're looking for Domestic Sound Proofing, avoid Noise Stop Systems - www . noisestopsystems . co . uk at all costs unless you want to be completely ripped off.

Comments

  • May not be the boards themselves that is the problem, could be how they were installed or numerous other factors...... Sound is a funny old thing (or not) it's very hard to control it.
  • We got advise from the company how to install them and followed it to the letter - It's not how we installed the boards, it's the boards and false promises made by the company

Can't put links in yet, but it looks like i'm not the only one that's had problems with them!
