Insurance/Write off Question

Hi, My partner's car was parked outside my house yesterday and the neighbour opposite reversed into it leaving a significant dent on the rear side panel. The car is a T reg. Peugeot 206 but has very low mileage and is in good condition. Its going to be assessed at a body work place on Thursday but we are fearing the worse, that it will be demmed beyond economic repair. Are there any options open to my partner other than just to accept the Insurers assessment of market value if it isn't repairable? It depressing that even if you're not the cause of an accident you still get penalised. :(

Ask for a payout and salvage and keep driving. If the paint isn't broken I probably wouldn't try to do too much to it (apart from a couple of thumps with a rubber hammer). If the paint is broken a tube of touch up paint might be in order.
