Best card to use in Marrakesh

Hi,

I am travelling to Marrakesh in August and was wondering if anyone could advise me on the best way to get money whilst there.

I am aware of the halifax clarity however heard that the atm charge a small fortune for cash advances.

would I be better with my debit card or cash?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Halifax Clarity card doesn't charge any fees for purchases or ATM withdrawals.

Bear in mind the Moroccan Dirham isn't convertible and you can't get it before you arrive in the country, you'd have to take £ with you and change it at the airport, at an awful exchange rate.

The only charge would be if the ATM charges you itself, which is still likely to be less than you'd lose on exchanging cash; also using the Clarity card you're not risking your own cash, as you would be with a debit card.

I was in Marrakech last Oct/November, and I wouldn't have wanted to use my debit card in any of their machines!
