why did she not call the police?

Very sensible advice IMO. Management have done all they can by sacking the person.

Any further threat perceived or actual should be directed to the police. Restraining orders etc.

I'm not clear on the time line here - threat, resignation and sacking all occurred last Friday???

No she had left on friday after the threats got so bad she had to take a cab for her own safety as was a male employee, yeah she is desperate to return to work but worried that the issue of management not taking it seriously till she had requested head office to step in will cause them to make things even more difficult for her. She is lost not being at work, she didnt not show she just had told her manager as she left she cannot work in these conditions with the stress and looking over her shoulder that she would have liked to sit down with her area manager to make sure she was fully safe and all issues address'd...like the manager whom didnt take her complaint seriously only did this she feels because she went to complain to the area office. She had went down that route with her complaint to the area manager as all the HR procedures she had exhausted so she asked for her annual leave to be activated till the issue was resolved.

She just is worried that she will go back and it will be different and the manager and staff may be unduely off with her.

She is very eager to get back to work and she was really at the end with choices and didnt come to this lightly she just wanted to ensure she and her family were safe from this man.

    thank you for your replys
If she has any sense, she will accept that she has to go back in and she will make contact with head office to arrange whatever is required for her to feel safe. Even then, not having done that today, her position is very weak and will be untenable very quickly.

Her boss has obviously been overruled by head office - he will be feeling sore - if she does not get in touch with head office, boss will be able to exact revenge.
