Lost Inbox in Thunderbird!

I seem to have lost my inbox in TB. My start position is now the SENT box.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling TB but still my inbox remains lost or hidden! I think it may have something to do with compacting folders.
Can anyone assist?
