can anybody tell me how i get a fax number so i can receive faxs

You don't need a separate number at all, you need a fax machine connected to your normal socket.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Here are a couple of good suggestions for free fax-to-email services:

http://www.esms.com/services_numbers_pure_get.php (get a free "Pure Number" and you can set up a fax service on it).
These services use non-geographic numbers such as 0870 and 0845. It is possible to get a standard 01/02 number elsewhere (eFax.com for example), but I've not found one that you don't have to pay a monthly subscription for.0 -
