Mental Issues Disabled & Learning Difficulties In Prison

Hi long story but advice urgently needed. My friend son has mental issues(He hears voices and self harms) he is disabled (had his leg removed) and has learning difficulties. He was arrested in May after threatening to kill his mum. He was charged with Common Assault. A dr has said that since his leg was removed last Sept he doesnt have mental health issues any more! He has self harmed in prison. He is up in court this Thu (12th Jul). My friend is concerned he will be released without getting the help he needs. The courts have not contacted any services involved in his care for the last four years apart from the dr who has said he is well. He is 24 and has refused to allow his mum any contact. What can my friend do she wants him to get the help he needs. Who can she contact? Any advice would be great. Thank you for reading this far.

Has the solicitor involved in representing him been informed of the medical issues, and perhaps given copies?

I can't help much but I was just wondering whether your friend's son is under his local CMHT, has a social worker or a CPN?

Yes I spoke to his lawyer today. My friend knows the lawyer however she was bound by confidentiality. The son had a CPN until she retired! Hopefully we are getting a phone call tomorrow by RETHINK who sound very helpful x
