Hi been trying 'Defraggler' (defragmenting program) after problems with 'SmartDefrag' & wondered within the settings of 'Defraggler' (Custom) is it best to include or exclude 'hibernation file & restore point file?

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

OK just that someone said the program may take less time if they were excluded? Thx

maybe it will, but not by much if you are in the habit of keeping old restore points to a minimum, and i don't use hibernate either (hiberfil.sys can be several GB in size)

  • Don't need any kind of special defragger for either of those, stop wasting your time.

Windows 7 runs defrag at Wednesday 10am every week or at the next available time in the background.

One of the first things I do on a vista or 7 install is turn off the scheduled defrag...it's a PITA...then install defraggler to run when I want it to :)

    You're not alone there.
Just doing the same on a Thinkpad, re-installing Vista Business. :(
    Move along, nothing to see.

I've just had a lappy in, and one of the issues was a sw conflict between windows sheduled defrag and a third party defragger that kicked in when CPU use was <10%...neither ran properly, and nor did the lappy when you added the conflicting security sw as well :(
