How the heck do I get these taps off?

Am wanting to replace two kitchen-sink taps with a mixer. Looking at the fixings, it has all the signs of being a right 'mare! Hot tap seems to have a drain valve under it??
Any ideas on how to approach this (other than calling a plumber:eek:)

turn off water
drain system
cut as far back as you can on copper pipe
add compression isolation valve to both pipes
install new pipework to sink (or put flexi tap connectors in)
add new taps
good luck getting those bolts off, they look truly seized!0 -
As above but have to add that you need to know how the water system works for 2 reasons
If it feeds water from a HW storage tank you will have to turn of the water feed to that from CW tank.
2ndly if it is that system watch what type of tap you are fitting, some if not all modern ceramic disc mixer taps require a higher pressure than such a system feeds to HW. If it's a combi system then you will be ok and only need turn off the main stop !!!!. So the swear filter doesn't allow stop cack???:rotfl::rotfl:
And lastly if you don't know the answer to those points, you do need a plumber
;) I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
good point in last post, our bathroom taps are very nice, it is just a shame the previous owners didn't understand the point made above (very low flow rate into bath), we have just fitted a guest toilet snd sink (pillar taps and they work fine but operate at a much lower pressure) Hopefully someone can assist in that I need a 1/4 turn ceramic kitchen mono tap that works on low pressure - are any available (the one we have is a brown tap and I would think 10-15 years old - can't get the hot tap head off - siezed to insert or I would just install 2 new inners)0

Hmm, I'm edging towards not fixing what isn't broken!0
