pushchair use for a very small 3.5 year old

Try and get one of those buggys with bigger wheels, the really cheap folding ones wheels, won't cope with the grass/terrain spartacus is talking about.
And yes I'd use one without hesitation, otherwise you're going to have to carry a backpack all day anyway. Worth it just for that.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Our 4 year old goes in a wrap or soft structured carrier (well we take it for when he needs it) if we are going out for a long day and there's a likelyhood he'll crash (he has other issues too, so it's imperative we have a way of transporting him), do what is best for you, not what other people think you should do xxNSDs 7/20
Make £10 a day £403.74/£3100 -
Definitely recommend you get him some form of buggy as it will be a long day.0

don't worry what people say.
If we are out for a long day we take our Mclaren for our 5 year old. She can have a nap (which she always does on long days) and we have somewhere to put our drinks/snacks/jackets etc.
No-one has ever commented to me, but far easier to let her nap in a stroller than for me to have to carry around a sleeping lump. Much better for my back.
The Mclaren is a good size and reclines- you should be able to get one second hand on ebay.0 -
Although our 3 year old refused to use a pushchair from about 2.5 she has now decided she can't be bothered. Rather than buy another double though (we also have an 18 month old) we bought a step 2 wagon and they love it. Worth considering as an alternative to a pushchair.0

If you can beg, borrow or "steal" a buggy then go for it. If not, buy the 30 quid cheap ones. I have no compunction about putting my 3 year old in the stroller. If he's sleeping, then I don't have to carry him. If it's a manic shopping trip, then I don't have to worry about him running off and getting lost. He walks perfectly well most of the time. If Maclaren made strollers for adults, then I'd make my hubby push ME in one.

If the terrain is unsuitable for wheels, then a sling would be a good alternative. Would have to be a soft or semi-structured sling though, as they are good for 3+ years. Ring sling or wrap. Possibly mai-tai at a push, if he's very small.0 -
If the terrain is an issue, how about something like an urban detour buggy, an all terrain 3 wheeler style. I had this for my two, was a god send on muddy wood walks and just in general. I found it much easier than a stroller and I think the kids found it more comfortable too.
Ask around, the odds are someone will have one to lend for the day? I passed mine on but got it for free off freecycle and was very pleased. So much so I managed to get the double version off freecycle too as I had my two close together and had similar day out problems.
Have a lovely day OP. My youngest is starting school in september, doesn't seem possible does it? I know what you mean about dinky kids swamped in age 3 clothes. two of her school friends to be are similar and look like they should be at home for at least another year.0 -
The more they walk, the more they get used to it and like it.
If we, as parents, put them in buggys because we dont think their legs can manage it then we are encouraging them to be idle.
If hes tired, someone will push him.
I would be more inclined to say "If youre tired, lets rest a few minutes while we look at so and so" or have a drink.
Plus, you might find that a buggy will restrict you an awful lot.0
