MSE Avatar problem

in Techie Stuff
Expect I'm doing something dumb (or not doing something clever) but am trying to have an avatar which is 2Kb in size and 56x80 pixels but, whilst it shows up in my "User CP", it doesn't show on the board.

Any ideas, anyone?:(

    Do I need to switch something on, in my user preferences or my browser settings, do you know? (I can see avatars on other sites with the same browser, by the way).

    You don't say which browser, are you using Adblock Plus add-ons perhaps?

    Firefox with no known ad-blocking software. As I said, I can have other tabs open and linked to other forums where I can see both mine and others' avatars, no problem. Which suggests its a MSE setting I have.

    Yes, I can see it there (I can also see it if I "visit" myself by clicking on my name but I can't see it - or anyone's avatar when on the forum generally.

    It's not life-threatening, I know - just one of those infuriating niggles.

    User CP edit options ---- scroll to Thread Display options tick show avatars ....
