Indent problem Word 2007

Options
I am trying to tidy up a document that has been typed out without using indents. I know how to drag the Left Indent across the document, but I need to know how I can get the text to snap or jump to the hanging indent point that I've chosen.

Thank you.

Ctrl + m will left indent the paragraph to either the default tab points or ones you have set up.

Ctrl + t will create hanging paragraphs (ie have numbered points). Again, it will indent to the tabs set or the defaults. You can use it in combination with the one above to indent numbered paragraphs.

Another handy short cut is F4 - which repeats the last command you carried out.

None of these shortcuts have changed since I first used Word for DOS and are handy to know!
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

As soon as I highlight the lines to be tidied up, the indent marker jumps back to 0.

There's an indent icon on the toolbar.

Alternatively, you can select the text and then click/drag the widgets on the ruler.

I've tried that but the text won't automatically jump to the chosen indent without breaking up.

Its a while since i have had to do this, but I seem to recall if you place the markers during the text, and then highlight everything the marker will go back to 0.

If I recall correctly, you either need to set up the markers on the ruler at the outset, or just highlight the test applicable to the markers.

Personally i just use the tab key these days.................
