Argos outlet refurb @ ebay £279.
new @ tesco dired ofr £329
Seems to be that the price atm is around £329. unless you're lucky to get an apple refurb. Try calling apple up and see if they can put you on a list, otherwise best chance is the argos one. or pay more for a new one.0 -
Your best bet will probably be ebay if you don't mind that it's second hand. However it won't be cheap still as it's a premium product and is holding it's value because people want an iPad but aren't fussed about getting the latest model, therefore waiting until a new generation is out and then buying a year old model.
I would pay the extra £70 and get it brand new with a warranty and so it's brand new therefore lasting you longer.0 -
I wouldn't recommend buying an Ipad 2 secondhand because the battery life would be reduced. (they only have so many charge cycles)
I would recommend trying the Apple Website regularly because the refurbs pop up at anytime. Currently they only have the 64gb for £399
Alternatively you could try Very.co.uk & get a new credit account order discount e-code off this site and potentially save £30 on the Ipad2 etc. (& maybe cashback like Quidco) Very also have buy now pay later, interest free if pay promptly in a years time. (they use Yodel couriers unfortunately)0 -
How refurbed are the Argos refurbs? I have been lucky enough to have been given some money and want to buy a 32gb ipad 2. I would like a new one but as Argoos is OOS, i want to see what I can get that is the best value fr something that is something i want rather than need!!“Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what. If you don't listen eagerly to the little stuff when they are little, they won't tell you the big stuff when they are big, because to them all of it has always been big stuff.”0

If youve got this free money, get a new one.
To me, a refurb one is secondhand no matter how you flower it up.
If you can afford a new one, get a new one.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

I got a refurb from the Apple site a few weeks ago but, as you say, they quickly went out of stock.
Some one in another post mentioned that a good time to check the site is on Thursday morning. That's when I ordered mine and it was delivered at 9 am the following day.
They keep coming up on their site so just be patient, it's worth the wait as it was in perfect condition.
Good luck.0 -
Sorry to ask questions on your post OP.
Argos have a good price on the 16 and 64gb Ipad 2's. For general family use (the odd movie, apps, phots etc) what is the general consesus on GB needs?“Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what. If you don't listen eagerly to the little stuff when they are little, they won't tell you the big stuff when they are big, because to them all of it has always been big stuff.”0 -
I don't know what makes a refurb on Argos. I know with apple, they give it a good going over, replacement back etc. With argos no idea. BUT argos are very good on their returns (in their ebay shop) so you could return it if you find it's not upto spec. Argos @ ebay also refunded me the special delivery cost of returning an item to them on top.
Live on the apple site for a bit to try and snag a refurb.
As for GB size. Depends really what you want to do with it, and how lazy you are
If you're likely to use it for music and video a lot, want to keep several films on it, as well as a bunch of music, 16GB might be fine. I went 64 with mine, don't fill it up, but with no music, just apps/games and videos I hover around 16+ gb. That's with regular cleaning of watched things. And I use it with the Camera connection kit (go cheap with the 7dayshop one, way cheaper) so have stacks of photos on it too.
It cannot be upgraded/expanded, so consider the size first. If in doubt, and you can afford it, go more rather than less. If you're looking for a couple of movies, 10 albums or so, some apps, maybe a few photies from the camera, some recording film, you might be fine with 16gb.
Also consider how long you expect to have it for. apps will get bigger (as seen with new ipad and retina screen etc) and the more apps you add, the more you take up space eventually. If you aren't planning on it being around for several years (ie you'd likely replace when a new one comes out, do consider 16GB as it's cheaper!)
BUT the big thing I found is the more I use it, the more I find use for it. So ebooks, vids, photos, calender, notes, docs, pdfs, basically my walking around brain.
I could probably keep to under 16GB, but it'd require effort and !!!!ing around with itunes so nty0 -
Pop videos can be between 50mb and 100mb
SD Feature films can be 1gb to 1.5gb
Apps , Games can be a few mb to well over a 1gb
16gb would be eaten up rather quickly with feature films and a few big apps n games!! (remember you don't get 16gb as usable because Apple's content nicks around 2.7gb)0 -
OMG....Just got one from Carphone Warehouse for £369 inc del for a 32GB one. Just was EXACTLY what I had decided.
Thankyou all for your help, and OP, I hope you fnd what you need and sorry again for borrowing your thread.
xx
