The tourist buses in Thailand are not safe: while they are ridiculously cheap, they are poorly maintained and will lead you into a range of rip-off situations. Get around the way Thai people do: the buses that leave from bus stations are well-maintained and comfortable, and offer good value for money.0 -
Hi Folks so what great beach resorts would you recommend near to Bangkok and saigon. also some cool hotels would be great in these places as well
Thanks for all your help

You can take a female companion with you to Thailand but you have to pay corkage.:D
I'd recommend Mae Hong Son and Chiang Mai if you are going to Thailand, and probably avoid Patpong in BKK!!
PS Google Street view is available in Thailand. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I stayed here in Saigon - lovely hotel.

Free dinners too! And internet.
I worked in London so it was easy for me to go to the embassy to get my visa done but if you dont you will need to either travel there, or risk posting them your passport.0 -

You can get a visa on arrival for Vietnam. You must apply in advance to get a letter to present at the airport but it's really easy. I used myvietnamvisa, hotels will also offer the service for the letter. Can only be used if arriving by plane though I think.
I've just been to Nha trang for the beach which is about 7 hours by train from Saigon. Absolutely hated it though.0 -

6 days seems a little long for Bangkok, once you've done the Grand Palace, and Wat Po, Jim Thompsons house, the Snake farm and the Ancient City, and had a trip up the Chao Praya, an evening in Patpong and/or Soi Cowboy and a bit of shopping you'll be ready to move on.That gum you like is coming back in style.0
