Very.co.uk Question

in Credit cards
hi all first post on the board.
i recently was interested in purchasing a few items from very.co.uk so i went through and signed up ready to pay straight away for my items to find that i had been issued a £1,000 credit limit.
on phoning them i was advised that on signing up they checked my credit history and issued a limit; i was quite annoyed at this as maybe this is due to my own ignorance but i did not want a credit account i simply wanted to pay for the items their and then. but it does not give you that option on signing up.
on explaining this to the support member he stated that this account could easily be changed to a cash account which in itself is fine but here is my questions.....
- how has this all effected my credit score etc as i did not want to open a credit account
- should i close the account down altogether ?
- is it best to leave it open with zero balance ?
i ask all these questions as i will soon be looking to balance transfer a credit card with a small balance on it and do not wish for this unwanted account to have any negative effect on me seeking a new balance transfer card. but as the search and issue of this limit has already been made what and the pros/cons and ultimately the best way to deal with this issue.
thanks in advance.

close the account with very
one search wont make any dent to a credit check, only more than 3 or 4 in six months might
but are you mad buying stuff for cash from very?even at half price they are over priced0 -
thanks for the advise.
i have contacted them and closed the account.
i must say though it is extremely misleading this is the only online shopping website i have come across which works in this fashion.
most sites you sign up and for purchases pay with a card and if you require credit it is something you have to specifically apply for as a secondary function.
i find the way they operate extremely underhand0 -
Maybe a slight exaggeration but only slight. I've had £30 discount vouchers in mailshots from Very and even using those would not bring down the price of anything that I wanted to less than I could pay at a sensible outlet....but are you mad buying stuff for cash from very?even at half price they are over pricedAre you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

No they aren't... My new Walkman for example was £10 cheaper at Very than it was at Amazon (and anywhere else I could find it) - and then I used a £30 new customer code on top. And excluding special offers that occasionaly pop up, their basic 19" TV was the cheapest I was able to find (and their delivery service is second to none - ordered Sunday afternoon and delivered Monday morning).0 -

It's a catalogue company - it's how they work.
And perhaps in future you should actually read what you are agreeing to...0
