We applied for the 123 account first in joint names. Once we got the email saying that was approved and opened we applied for everyday accounts in our sole names. Mine was approved. My other half's was declined.#
Don't think it will do any harm applying for a second account although the reverse is also true and it wont do any harm in waiting and letting them see some account conduct on the 123. If you apply straight away for another account I'd say its an almost certainty that if it is granted they will give you another online card for that one too
Incidentally, I also tried an overdraft on my sole account since Santander seem to like me more than my other half but I get the same message when trying on that one that I do on the 123 so they don't like me that much0 -
I haven't noticed any credit searches when I've tried for an overdraft although I'm only monitoring Equifax and Noddle CRAs. I'm assuming they've either gone off the info they got when I applied along with internal scoring or they've got a marker on my account similar to lloyds TSB's CPD99 which is auto declining any attempt to add an overdraft0

Santander tend to be very cautious.
If you have an online debit card, I'd give it 3-6 months before applying for an overdraft. You can upgrade to a DEBIT MFC then if you like. This is based on account management and turnover.
Pre approvals for credit cards and loans usually take up to 12 months to pop up and are based on account management and credit scoring.
If you want to know what overdraft limit/ pre-approvals you have, you can ask in a branch or over the phone. We can see at a glance your maximum overdraft and any guaranteed prompts. It saves you having to take a stab in the dark with an online application.0 -
You'll only get an overdraft if the account sees regular credit turnover. Ideally of 500+ per month coming in
The fact you've got 10k of unused overdrafts is probably a deciding factor in why you weren't granted one with Santander. You have a lot of avaliable unsecured credit already.
Consider closing accounts you are not using.0
