Note that if you buy anything from Readers Digest you will be inundated with Snail Mail.0

Then it just gets bagged for the recycle, no biggie.

I wouldn't just throw your address in the recycling if I were you - there is an id theft risk.
Often the Reader Digest stuff has your address all over it
e.g. fake cheque, fake winners letters
So you need to spend some time seperating it and shredding the relevant parts.
Maybe not a biggie for you, but for some disabled people it is a biggie.
Personally I care about the environmental impact, but I think you should be concerned about if theft also especially as you imply your just bag it rather than carefully destroy the id parts.0 -
A name and address on it's own is surely not enough for ID theft.
Anyone can find a name and address for someone!travelover0 -

I'm afraid it is, things are not run as efficiently as you might think and others are much cleverer than you might think - very sad but true. All power is from within and therefore under our control0 -

I was actually only trying to be helpful and didn't expect the spanish inquisition :-)A name and address on it's own is surely not enough for ID theft.

Loads of people don't like junk mail - whether it's because of disability, id theft, concern for the planet or simply use their of time.
Yes it's generally recommended not to put your personal details including name and address just in the bin or in the recycling.
Readers Digest will send you loads of junk and it will have your address all over it, so for people that don't like junk mail then don't buy off them.
Alternately if you love junk mail I can highly recommend Readers Digest who are guaranteed to send you loads :-))0 -
I brought the ebay ones and they was a load of rubbish, lost shape and colour really easy. Ended up buying the genie ones from BHS's and much better, you get quality for the price you pay.0

I should have explained, we shred, then recycle
Junk mail can be stopped via http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/
MSE has a full article how to stop cold calls, junk mail, etc http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/no-more-junk
I am not going to not order if I am saving a tenner just for the sake of junk mail I can stop anyway
Either way, takes seconds to shred and dump in the recycle bag
