I'd still be interested to know if anyone can tell me,should it take hours to download say a film....................0

A 4GB file will take just under 5 hours to download on a 2Mbps broadband connection.
Maths:
4GB * 8 = 32 Gigabits.
32 * 1024 = 32768 Mb (megabits)
Typical download rate on 2 meg is 1.87 megabits per second.
Thus 32768 / 1.87 = 17,523 seconds.
17,523 / 3600 = 4.8675 hours (4 hrs 52 mins).

:O thats if you are downloading the full dvd image, ive heard
that most films u get are either ~700mb (one cd) or double if split by the rippers. on a 2mb connection your looking at ~40/80 mins based on togs calculations.
all this is what i have been told by others0 -

Depending on the film, and the format. You can get a whole movie into as little as 700MB. I've got loads of full movies in this size, very good quality as well.
Impossible to say how long it will take to download a film, there are loads of different things to take into account.
File size
Your connection speed
Their server speed/capacity
How many others are downloading the same film at the same time
Line contention
Anything else using the web on your computer at the same timeHow many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

It does say "What is MP4" in the Techie Stuff forum summary. Perhaps this should be changed to something else less inflamatory
@Rex
Some folks can cope with 820Mb CD.
