You say the property does "not meet the repair standard" but whose standards are these and who has made that decision?

Ok. Well thank you for everyone's input. I think the nail in the coffin were the flies this morning coupled with slugs coming in the multitude of holes in the kitchen extension. I just feel like I've spent the last 6 months trying to temporarily repair everything to make it habitable. I feel like I am fighting a lost battle and its making me so upset. I am sat here crying like an idiot, must be the pregnancy hormones.

Hormones have a lot to answer for  , but it's understandable that you want a decent home when you have babies/small kids

Stick some beer outside for the slugs and lett them die happy and then ask the LLs written permission to use expanding foam to seal off holes in extension. Probably a whole raft of anti slug measures available on one of the other MSE boards - green fingers etc

Cluster flies are vile because of the sheer number that appear at once but they can be dealt with.Been there, done that one. If you prefer to avoid the use of insecticides good old fashioned flypapers can be used and you can also use your vacuum to suck the little blighters up en masse and then seal the vaccum cleaner bag inside a couple of plastic bags ( obviously if you have one of thse bagless jobs its not an option) I reckon late pregnancy means its deffo a job for your partner:wink:

Do nothing until you speak with Shelter Scotland Monday after 9. Expect a wait from this overwhelmed charity.

I think disrepair such as yours CAN be grounds (Scotland only) for leaving early. Tricky though as landlord can sue you for rent.

    Check with Shelter!!!

    See..

Next time, by all means phone but WRITE also (keep copy)
