Car hire in spain - different pick up and drop offs?

Hi there

Just wondered if anyone had any advice on the following issue.

I am looking for the cheapest car hire in spain, for 9 days. I will be picking up in Bilbao and dropping off in Barcelona.

Some companies do not allow a different drop off point to the pick up location and those that do, do not always make it clear whether there is an extra charge for this, sometimes stating that there may be a charge at the depot.

I wondered if anyone had picked up and dropped off a hire car in spain, from different locations and new of a cheap company that allowed this with no hidden extras. I have tried carjet (recommended by this forum in a different thread) but they do not have any one way rentals that match.

Many thanks in advance

Nick

  • Yeah, I looked at that site, but couldn't see a way to get a one way quote, it was picking up and dropping off at the same location. I have emailed them to find out if it is possible...

Am I missing something on the site to get a quick quote though?

    Many thanks

I did Barcelona to Girona Airport with Europcar. Don't think there was a charge for the one way drop off. If there was, it was very little cos it still worked out cheaper than everyone else!

Try Auto-Europe. 8.5% cashback through Quidco or try via travelsupermarket.com for lower prices. As usual, they say there may be a one-way charge, but they'll tell you before you confirm the booking.

To get a one way hire you need a company with depots at both ends, which smaller cheaper companies will not have. You'll need to go for one of the majors either directly or through a consolidator - eg Auto Europe as LesD says or Holiday Autos.
  • Thanks alot for the tips everyone.

I will get on the case shortly

    Cheers
