Maybe, but my fridge magnet says "Boring women have immaculate houses" and I'm choosing to believe that one:D.

If I was going to have an immaculate house, it would have happened by now. There are far more important things to do and if it gets out of control, Kim and Aggie will sort it out:cool:. But ... I can't stop myself feeling good when I feel I've got some of my space under control.

Ooh slightly ahead of you all there.
Having decided that to save money during the schol hols we would find our selves things to do around the house, I got the kids and one of their friend to clean and organise the pantry and the fridge today. the pantry needed doing pre ant season and the fridge well i'm a bit anal about being clean and the fridge is one of my big clean zones.

So I suggest that any one thingking of taking on this challenge make it fun and get the kids to do it for you!!

Unless that is i've got weird kids??;)

Mind you mine always succomb to a little financial bribary.

Oh so true! However I dread people calling round unexpectedly as the place is usually such a tip and it can be just plain embarrassing. Not that people aren't welcome of course, but I ask everyone to give me one day's notice that they are coming to visit so I can make it presentable.

I get a really nice glow of satisfaction/house pride after a major blitz on the housework, especially if it has been totally out of control. Unfortunately the mood to go on a blitz is not something I can muster up with any frequency, and half hearted attempts just get abandoned. Oh big sigh! I don't want to end up being on Kim and Aggie's hit list...

Okay I will hold my hands up and say that post switching and decorating bedrooms the house is a pigsty! But in full Flylady swing I have found it takes me no more than 45 mins every day to keep the house spotless and have all the jobs done.

Her 'babysteps' theory is so true, we tend to put things off because we think they will take longer to do than they actually do. By making small inroads into a huge mess it feels like you have achieved something and when that huge mess is clear it only takes 5 minutes to keep it clear.

I've had everybody off work and school for the past 2 weeks and it's been impossible to keep to any task but the other half and the eldest are back to work tomorrow, I'm going to get the youngest two to play in their room and really crack on with it.

By Monday I should be out of CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) and back to normal.

Ah - see now this is where I fall down. If you were led blindfold and only sat in the various cupboards, you would think I was a Domestic Goddess (or anal retentive cupboard organiser  ).

    However, the actual house......................bombsite!

I have no idea why - although I think the OH has to take a lot of the credit here. :D

Plus the fact that it is in a permanent state of 'improvement' (hollow laugh) as I could only afford it as there was so much needed doing to it (think replacing walls, ceilings, wiring etc - not simply a lick of paint).

If any one called round unannounced, I would have to go into 'hide behind the sofa and pretend to be out' mode, or collapse in shame lol.

But! When it is all done - watch out OH :rotfl: Domestic serenity will be mine!

i used to do the flylady thing but found her incredibly self righteous and annoying at best...

i will admit that some of the ideas were good, especially the cleaning for 15 minutes at a time, my dh used to do this and it worked very well, think we'll have to start doing it again.

i also like her C.H.A.O.S can't have anyone over syndrome, we suffer from it too :rotfl:

i just like the idea of the forms because they rely on you on your own time to do it and they are soley for your benefit as most people don't look in your cupboards, but they do save a lot of time in the end and i feel that after i've had a good clear out and a clean that the house just feels better... plus i'm all up for making some dosh on my castoffs!

My daughters go back to school next week so I hope to get to grips with housework then, but as a lot of repair work is going on around me it feels like a thankless task. :):):)

For those of you who have tried Flylady but found it to be too much I would highly suggest you try http://organizedhome.com , then again as a moderator (UK-Mum) over there I'm biased ;) There are currently 37276 registered members who are just as friendly and supportive as here so if you get a bit lazy there is always someone about to give you a kick up the bottom if you need it LOL

We currently have a Spring Grand Cleaning Plan going where you tackle one room a week. This website has helped me get rid of so much clutter, my entire house can be "weekly cleaned" in 2 hours including the (majority) laundry, but not the ironing.

If you do decide to go over and have a look, feel free to PM me. I will get around to answering you ;)

Now this IS a challenge for me. I'm too disorganised to be organised. Just had a quick look at organisedhome.com and will def get to grips with it (note to self - stop getting sidetracked by emails/MSE website)

I'm fairly clean, just with 2 tornados who disguise themselves as sons so feel in a state of permanent mess. Cleaned living room at 10pm last night - you'd not know now. :( Also, must sort out spare room. Keep filling it with clothes/toys etc ready to sort for car-boot or ebay, but it's been that way for weeks! Maybe if we had guests, it would make me buck my ideas up:)
