passports

hi,
has anyone here recently renewed a passport?
did mine around may last year and got it back in a week,
just renewed 1 of my kids. sent off early June,
payment taken out on the 20th, and still waiting.
i know of recent cutbacks but thought 7 weeks would be plenty of time,
due to fly in 2 weeks, getting a bit nervous

Did you keep the tracking barcode label? You can find out how it is doing by entering it on the website, not sure where cos never had to do it!

Don't panic, shouldn't be too long now!

If the money was taken from your account on the 20th June - that was when the office received and scanned your application.
You will have to call the adviceline, but you will need your barcode reference number or they will not give you any information. (If you used the ckeck and send service at the PO the number will be on your receipt)

I sent mine off on 21 June. Got an e-mail saying that they had it on 22nd and that it would be back in 2 weeks as I used the 'check n send' service.

Well 2 weeks is up so I am hoping that I'll have it back this week sometime.

    great!
sent the progress request in and it appears there is a problem, don't know what yet, but its taken them nearly 4 weeks to tell me!
i thought it would be a straight forward renewal, just hope its a simple typo by me

    looking bleak.
they've had my renewal form over a month and just decided they want my sons mothers permission in writing,
even though according to their guidelines i have parental responsibility?

letter posted to me last week that needs signing before they can carry on still hasn't arrived, and now told i must wait and hope it gets processed and delivered by next Saturday,
can't upgrade to speed it up and said i cant even drive through to collect it either!

Did the mother apply for the previous passport?

Did the mother apply for the previous passport?

can't remember? it was over 7 years ago and she can't too?
but probably was as she got the countersign and I'm guessing it would have had to have been her for that,
    does it make a difference?
either way, getting the permission slip signed isn't the problem, its when is the postman going to deliver it to return so i can start praying they can rush it through

Get the letter of consent from the mother and send it direct to the office - making sure that you put your reference number on it.

She has to write something along the lines of :

I (mothers full name)give my consent to (your name ) to apply for a passport for(child's full name )

    mother's signature and date.

Don't wait for the letter to arrive - it may take a few more days which wastes more time. Also ask them to phone you when its ready for issue - that way you can decide whether to upgrade or not depending on how many days you have left before you travel.
