Experian Credit Score

Hi there,
Thanks for reading. I have checked my Experian credit score which was 797 (fair). This was due to 2 things: 1. incorrect info regarding the electoral registry - I am registered and voted in the last elections on my current address so just their mistake. Will just scan the document and email it to them. 2. 'You have no successfully settled non-mail order accounts.' This is more tricky as I have no idea what they mean by this. The report doesn't mention who is the lender/company, no names, no hints, no dates. I have no idea what this is regarding. Does anybody know what this could mean? Should I just email Experian and ask?
Thanks in advance for any advise.

'You have no successfully settled non-mail order accounts' means that you don't have any closed accounts showing up on your report.
Successfully settled = closed 'properly', i.e. not by defaulting on the account
Non-mail order accounts = 'normal' accounts, i.e. bank accounts, credit cards, mortgages etc.
It indicates that if you have any old unused accounts, it may be worth closing them.0 -
what credit lines do you have at the moment and do these show on your files??0

Thanks rb10. I have several old saving accounts with Barclays which I don't use anymore. Could it be it?0

Thanks CLAPTON. I don't have any credit cards at the moment if it's what you asked. I just have several saving accounts which I haven't used or closed.
Not just credit cards - any open credit accounts at all - loans, catalogue accounts, bank account with an overdraft, hire purchase agreements, mobile phone contracts, utilities that appear on your credit file? gym contracts or anything like that?
Savings account do not appear on your credit file or influence it in anyway.
If you don't have any open credit accounts at all - then regardless of the score that experian will sell to you - its likely you will find it hard to get credit from a lot of places.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Thanks. I see so it can't be my saving accounts. I have O2 contract. I will check with them if there is anything on my file.0
