Printer Problem Please Help

Options
:( I have a Lexmark 1020 inkjet printer and I  run Windows 98.

When I am printing certain info off the computer eg things from this site and others, the last few letters in the sentence keep getting cut off. It's soooooo irritating.
It seems to print off the blurb about recommend this site to a friend etc on the left hand side ,which I don't  want or need but I can't get rid of ,at the expense of the info that I want to print out.  Can anyone give any help/advice please?

  • So it's chopping off text at the bottom or the right of the page?

it is the way that internet explorer works, I am assuming that you are using this.

It prints the whole page in one go and if any is missed off the right edge then so be it. There isn't anything you can do that I am aware of within IE.

I cut and paste what I want into word but you can use any word processor or even notepad.

    Hope this helps.
Ever stop to think and forget to start again?
  • Yes it's chopping off text at the right hand side of the page.

Thanks for the advice I will try to find out how to do all the things that have been suggested ???
  • I don't think you know what he meant, if that's the case:

highlight the text you want to print (using the primary mouse button, hold it down and move it over the text)

when it's all highlighted in blue, press control and C. (you won't see a change at this point.) but doing this means you can ignore all the bumph you don't want.

open notepad, or word processor and then press control and V,
your text should have been copied.

    print off as normal

    HTH :)

What a star you are aussielle.

Thanks for the explanation I'll give it a go this weekend and let you know how I get on. I am quite a novice at this computer lark. Everybody seems to be surfing the net on a  jet ski and I am kind of pootling  around the bay on a pedalo.  ;D

PS I have just worked out how to do the quote thing Woohoo  :-*

I think I read somwhere that this happens because a lot of websites are setup for the US 'letter' size paper and this conflicts with printers setup for A4

It may be a simple matter for the site here to be modified a little since it is uk focused - Or perhaps we are stuck with US standards and conventions

What about the software that comes with the Lexmark? Doesn't that allow manipulation of the document before you send it to print?

    Sweetie_Lavender,

Same idea as Aussielee but slightly simpler.
Left click and drag over the text you want to copy. Then right click your mouse and choose copy (same as control c) then open word or notepad, right click mouse and choose paste (same as control v)

    Good luck

  • :) Thanks everyone for all the advice. I'm going to have a go and see what happens.

I have had a look at the settings on the printer and it's set on A4 so not sure what the answer is .

If that doesn't work you could set the printer to print in 'landscape'. That should include all the information you need.
