Replacement picture rails

Hi all,

I'm renovating my British Iron and Steel Federation (BISF) house, insulating and replacing the lining of the walls upstairs with plasterboard and skimming (they are lined with hardboard originally, to which wallpaper was applied directly).

Anyway I'm trying to preserve something of its 1940s features which are mostly intact. To that end I've replaced the picture rails and other woodwork onto the walls once I've rebuilt them.

Here's a before/after pair of the back bedroom I have reconstructed:

Unfortunately, in two of the bedrooms the picture rails have been removed but I'd like to put up replacements to match the other rooms. Is it possible to cut a strip of wood yourself, or get one cut to a similar size? It wouldn't have to match exactly the profile (you can hook a picture hook over the top of the originals, but I wouldn't need that for the replacements), but it would have to be the about the same width and thickness, 35x8mm. I had a look in the local sheds, but no stripwood of that size.

You can buy picture rails at any timber merchants or the sheds and cut it and fit it to your requirements.

I was assuming it would be a type unique to the time/type of house and I wouldn't find a similar one, but are they standard?

I've only ever seen one standard type if picture rail. If you go to your timber merchant and ask, I'm pretty sure he'll just have the one type.
