Thanks for all the replies. Glad to see I'm not over reacting.

I've drafted a LOC so will get that sent off today, I'm also going down to see the dealership in question after work to give them a piece of my mind. The car was booked in with them today to have some pieces of interior trim 'investigated' because they didn't believe me that they just 'fell off' when I shut the door. But I cancelled that first thing and will take it elsewhere.

Will let you all know what they say when I go later this afternoon.

My advice would be to ask for an appointment with the Dealer Principal, they are the Service Managers boss and have no interest in covering up poor servicing work. They also as a rule don’t like it when a customer takes an issue to their level and it usually gets sorted very quickly.

They will ask you what you want and have the power to give you a refund for the service which was not to your satisfaction, or get your car serviced as it should have been and give you your next service free of charge.
    Good luck:)

    Thanks for your reply!

I've been today and the DP wasn't available, so as you say would probably need to make an appointment.

Explained the situation to the service manager that originally told me they were fine and he said 'ah well'

also told them that I had sent a letter of complaint to VX head office and his reply was 'they'll only refer it here, so shall I just book it in?'

He really did not give a damn.

I just hope VX contact me soon, I've sent the complaint via email to three different email addresses and also sent it via post recorded.
This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.

The Dealer Principal never is available, the Service Managers approach at this stage does not surprise me and VX will just refer back to dealer. I’d telephone and ask to speak to the DP’s secretary, ask for an appointment to see the DP. Don’t be put off with anybody else, insist on meeting with the DP trust me the staff attitude will change. If you still can’t get to see the DP ask for the name and address of the company chairman.

    I will try that thanks.

I am absolutely fuming at the moment, received this reply from Vauxhall and the guy at Pentagon has blatently lied to cover his back.

Thank you for your email received 10 July 2012, regarding your Vauxhall Insignia, registration number FP11---.

I am sorry to hear about the recent issues you have experienced with the brakes fitted to your vehicle and certainly appreciate your reasons for contacting us.

Whilst each Vauxhall dealership is responsible for the level of service they provide to our customers, I realise that their actions have a reflection on us.

I have contacted Mr Lee Giles, at Pentagon in Mansfield, who has confirmed that upon inspecting the vehicle the brakes were 70% worn and therefore did not need replacing.

Whilst I appreciate this may not be the response you were expecting may I assure you your comments have been noted.

Should you want to discuss this matter further I would be more than happy to request the Service Manager from Pentagon in Mansfield to contact your directly and address your concerns.

Please contact me, either by return email, or on 0844 369 0112 quoting the Service Request number detailed above if you do require any further assistance.

Thank you again for taking the time to contact us and for allowing me the opportunity to comment.

    Yours sincerely

    Krystal Macbeth

I also had the RAC out last night to check them over and he said he himself is disgraced that VX didn't replace them. He said unless I've done 10,000 miles in the last week then they needed changing the day I booked it in to have them looked at. He also said the discs will need replacing also and has advised that I do NOT drive it.

Where do you guys recommend I go from here? Should I get someone out to give a full report on them?

Have you got an invoice or report from the service that actually says the brakes did not need replacing?
I'd get back to the Customer Service Manager and quote the RAC (did you get anything written from them?). Make it clear the reported 70% wear does not tally with your independant findings and the service report you had. While you may not have done 10,000 miles since the service, they might come back and say some other issue could have caused excessive wear since then, so be prepared to back up your findings with as much detail as possible.

Didn't get anything in writing about the brakes from the original service unfortunately.

I've got a written report from RAC, it does state that they are beyond the legal limit, but it doesn't go into as much detail as what he said to me. I don't think he'd have any problem confirming though as I've got his name etc.
