I see there is a recent AA renewal thread, but as this is an RAC enquiry I thought i'd start afresh.

I have been with RAC since 2004 and am due for renewal on 28th July.
I have cover for Joint, Solutions 4, Roadside & Recovery, At Home, and Onward Travel. It's a Personal based membership for my Hubby and I.

They are asking for £221.08 !
It appears that if I let this one lapse and then start a new, it will only cost us £135

Me don't tink that's fair or good!!

Any tips on what to say to them when I phone please?
Are there any phrases that are good for getting the price reduced (you know what I mean!)

Thanks in advance everyone.

They will probably drop it a bit but not the full amount.

Not sure the RAC would allow new cover (policy) straight away as they have a note on their website about policies ended in the last 4 months.

Why not simply swap to one of the offers from AA or Green Flag? Might even get further discount if you use a cashback site like topcashback, just make sure you clear your cookies before using the cashback site..

    Thanks Grizzly.
I must admit, I am thinking more about the other suppliers at the moment.
My only thoughts are, are they as good as what I am used to with the RAC?
I've never been with another company before so I have no experience with them.
Bit of a leap of Faith to change.

Why have you been with them so long. It usually pays to shop around every year. Also AA and RAC are not the only companies around that offer "good" service.

In the time that you have had the policy, have you ever needed to use their services? I don't mean to sound arrogant, but if not, how can you compare their services if all they do is write to you asking for more money each year;)

I have yes, and I needed them last Sunday.
Usually need them about twice a year!

Still think they charge too much though, even if they do bail me out semi regularly!
