Best tablet for under 300.00?

Hi, I'm looking for a tablet which will be mainly used for surfing the net, ebooks/kindle and apps. Watching films would be good too, but not essential.
I've been looking on Amazon and just getting more and more confused.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Try a refurbished iPad 2 direct from Apple.

Stocks come and go but they are £259 for a 16g/b model and come with a 1 year Apple warranty (plus free next day delivery by courier).

I would say an iPad if you can buy a good refurb/used one or the Google Nexus (as most above agree)
