Wanna buy cheap plant pots and containers

Recently I was in a store where they were selling Morrisons swing bins with NO swing bin tops, so efecetivly you bought the rectangular base. They were slate grey, about 30" high and ideal because the base didn't taper so no falling over. I bought 14 at 49p each, couldn't carry anymore. I've drilled holes in the base, bought extra compost and given that I can now embark on the task, feel sure they will be ideal.

I know my purchase won't help you, but the idea might, so if you have access to any discount store, where they have discontinued ranges/colours, you could consider these. Make them an offer for your bulk buy. I suppose you could even try any of the bigger DIY's regarding end of ranges, Norte if they have any, then seek out someone in authority and blag your way. They want'em out of the way.

I second Freecycle or maybe asking any friendly neighbours? I've just moved into somewhere with a dozen old, empty flower pots lying in the corner of the garden!

A good many of my pots are ex-paint containers, scrounged from building sites or skips. Rough up with a bit of sandpaper, a couple of coats of masonry paint (also scrounged) and some holes drilled. I've had some for over 3 years now and they still look as good as new - and the plants are going great guns, so obviously not affected by paint residue.
