We got a letter from Sky this morning saying we can have a new Sky plus HD box complete, but it is self install.
Is it easy to self install, never done before.

Piece of cake, if in doubt just swap one cable over at a time.0

Many thanks both, looks easy peasy as long as you take one step at a time...........make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Done it twice now, the new set up procedure is pretty fool proof, take your time and you'll be fine. The box will need to be connected to a phone line.
Don't forget you'll need an Ethernet connection to your router for AnyTime +*, and to activate the RF2 power supply if you are using a TV-Link.
If you have problems you can ask on here or Tweet to the Sky help team, they are really good.
* If thats a problem get them to send you the Wireless Connector, ask nicely and you should get a free one, I did with my one terrorbite box. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Check out the deal before agreeing. I think that if you say yes to a new box you are committed to staying with Sky for at least a year.0

Good advise knightstyle, but I'm a bit confused as to why sky would be doing this, unless it's because you have an old box.
When we wanted a new one a few years ago we were told that you could only get sky+ now(then) so we upgraded and to be honest it is brilliant - much easier than the old one but did involve extra costs.
It may be worth a quick call to sky to ask for advise, yes they really are friendly and helpful.
