Travel Insurance for Egypt

Ive looked far and wide for an answer on this but review sites aren't exactly helpful with this as people just review the purchase of travel insurance and not the actual claim.

What I want to know is who are the best value companies to go with in terms of making a claim? And as we plan to do quadbiking etc are there any things we need to watch out for?

Also egypt is treated as europe for insurance but not covered under EHIC is that right?

Some insurers now class Egypt as worldwide while others still class it as Europe so you will need to check.

If you plan to go quadbiking you need one with dangerous sports included. You are right in that it is not covered by the EHIC.

  • Insure and Go are excellent for insurance in Egypt, I paid £60.00 for a 4 month cover that's highly comprehensive, it's better to call them than go off the website - I saved over £100.00 by calling. They can reduce the price massively on the phone. As Enterprise says, if you want to go quadbiking you need to add that on, I paid £9.00 for one day but it's worth it.

when i went to egypt a couple of years ago i insured with post office it was classed as european cover then, bit you would need to check if it still is. quad biking was also covered in the general cover but only up to a certain cc.

So is, make sure the operator has an operators licence and that he has his own insurance. Make sure the vehicle is fit for purpose. Wear an helmet, and make sure you have no alcohol in your bloodstream.
