Flushing Toilet Smell

Bathroom suite in 2nd floor tenement flat was replaced several months ago. The toilet is mounted on an external wall and has a separate soil stack to that of the grey water drains.

After been away a few days I flush the toilet and in return get an almighty smell which ISN'T sewage but is indescribable except that it's slightly sharp - but not enough to make eyes water. If anything it could a plastic type smell.

After that first flush it's normally OK.

Any ideas? Especially as to what the smell could be

Have you looked inside the cistern?

Possibly something inside there that is decaying, like a drowned mouse or something left in by mistake by the installer.

Over a period of time it might be tainting the water, but not enough to be noticeable if you are regularly flushing.

Definitely not in the cistern, water there is clear. It's possible that the water in the cistern was the cause but as the evidence was flushed away it's hard to prove.
