Sheffield: Want to visit city centre, Decathlon store and also Meadowhall - help?
Hi all,
I can get single train tickets from Cleethorpes to both Meadowhall and Sheffield Rail station at the same price of £6 per single journey.
What I'd like to do is first get the train to Sheffield city centre and then walk to the Decathlon store (199 Eyre Street, S1 3HU) maybe spend a bit of time in the city centre and then move on to Meadowhall.
Can anyone tell me the best and cheapest way to get from the city centre to Meadowhall please? Thanks in advance.

I'm looking at the SuperTram timetable but with not knowing the system and area, I can't understand it.DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

you want yellow route tram to meadowhall, catch it outside cathedral, they run every 10 mins and a single fare is £2.20, pay conductor onboard. or you could catch x78 doncaster bus they are pretty frequent.0

Second the recommendation for the tram to Meadowhall.
Suggest you walk from the station to Decathlon & then work your way back through the city centre to the cathedral for the tram.
What kind of shops interest you in the city centre? The Moor (nearest Decathlon) is a little empty at the moment (although has big Debenhams), but 5 mins away you have John Lewis & Fargate with M&S. West St area has more individual type stores.0 -
Thank you for the help guys! Very kind! xx

Well, to be honest, I'm only wanting to have a mooch around and see what I see but thank you anyway.
I suppose it's really the Decathlon store I'll be spending my money in as I'm after a couple of things for my husband's birthday but with the delivery charges being around a fiver I thought I'd have a day out on the straight-through train instead.
Thanks again guys!DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

Change of plan! Decathlon store have a delivery promotion on at the moment... Only £1!
So, I've placed my order to be delivered instead of walking to the store and carrying it around all day! So, do I still go to the city centre or get off at Meadowhall and spend all my time there? Decisions decisions!DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

There's nothing in Sheffield city centre that there isn't at Meadowhall (apart from John Lewis). The place is generally dirty and the Moor is an absolute dump.
My advice would be to get off at Meadowhall although it wouldn't be my idea of a day out:)
(BTW I live in Sheffield and choose to stay out of the centre as much as possible unless it's for the theatre)0 -
Looks like I might just stay in Meadowhall then, thanks.hollie.weimeraner wrote: »My advice would be to get off at Meadowhall although it wouldn't be my idea of a day out:)
I suppose the novelty wears off when you live close by... a bit like me not being down to the beach even though it is a 5 minute walk from my house!
I'll just enjoy the fact that I can go trying clothes on by myself without anyone being bored. I'm slowly but steadily losing weight and have to take 3 sizes of clothes into the changing room each time. I can do that until I get fed up! It's probably about 5 years since the last time I was at Meadowhall.
And now I'm not going to Decathlon, I might try and find the Hobbycraft store instead. I know it is somewhere outside Meadowhall but I've never managed to find it. I'll find the postcode and google it!DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024
