Euro car park parking charge should i pay

I hope someone can help, i recently parked at a Euro car park in Birmingham, This was a private car park in which it had pay meters, i put around £4 in this machine and it was obvious it wassnt going to give me a ticket or out of order without any sign.At this point i had no more change and there wasnt a nearby shop to get change from and there was no attendent to tell so i contiued without a ticket, i was only 10 minutes.A week later i recieved a parking ticket through the post saying they got me on camera, charging me £70 if i payed within 14 days or £100 if not what should i do?i have been told i dont need to pay because its not council run is this the case?

thanks:mad:

You are correct. You don't have to pay. Please read all the other threads on here that deal with private parking tickets.

You should pay if you feel it is the right thing to do. I gather with the red angry smiley that you don't feel it is.

Personally, I'd ignore it and ignore all the threatening letters that follow. The penalty will increase they will threaten to take you to court, they will threaten to destroy your credit. They will threaten to take your car. However, that action will only happen if they were successful at county court because you failed to defend yourself and got a CCJ against you and you did not pay it and bailiffs arrived and you still refused to pay. The chance of that happening is approximately 1 in 2 million.

    An Impersonation of authority scam.
It all huff and bluff ! Smoke from a box !
Ignore them, but report the broken machine and demands for money to trading standards.

Did the machine keep your £4?
If Yes, then no you dont have to pay.
If no then you can ( at your own discretion) write to them explaining what had happened and enclosing the original parking fee that you would have paid as a full and final settlement.

    Why do this?
doing this will mena that you have acted reasonably to pay them for any losses suffered, should they decide to take things further you are in the clear.
