Redundency insurance

Can anyone help with this please and the legalities.

A while ago I was told my job was at risk due to a big restructure, nearly everyone was told this.

Now I have been told my job does not exist after June and they are currently looking at other roles for me.

Firstly let me say I have not been told I am being made redundant but have been told I'm at risk.

If I was to take out cover for my Mortgage would it be legal with what I know?

I also know if I was made redundant I would have a leaving date of the end of September (over 6 months).

Today I have been offered one position but its a long way and if I turn it down I may well be making myself redundant.

How do I stand, I want to protect myself but at the same time I don't want to do anything illegal.

    Its too late.

Most ASU plans have a qualifying period anyway and if you are aware of redundancies, they will exclude you.
